A smoke incident that happened in Moscow's Domodedovo Airport on Sept.3 morning has delayed about 50 flights.

"As of 10 a.m., Moscow's Domodedovo Airport operates normally. In all, about 50 flights have been delayed with an approximate delay time of 90 minutes. Passengers of delayed flights are checking in," a source in the Domodedovo press service told Interfax.

Meanwhile, according to the online flight information board, 44 departures and 15 arrivals have been delayed. Information about 22 flights which were supposed to have left by now is being updated.

The airport resumed its normal operations at 9:20 a.m. Moscow time after the smoke had been extracted. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry department in the Moscow region said the fire in the airport has been put out.

The ministry suspected that the smoke could have been caused by an electric circuit fault in the basement where construction materials were stored. More than 3,000 people were evacuated. According to preliminary information, no one was hurt.

A source in the emergency situations services told Interfax earlier that flights were partially suspended in Domodedovo because of the smoke incident.
