The government of Russia has allocated almost 950 million rubles ($20.6 million) to relocate people from emergency housing in Crimea and Sevastopol, a statement issued Tuesday by the Russian government said.

According to the statement, 619 million rubles will go to Crimea, and another 330 million rubles to Sevastopol. The Russian Construction Ministry and Federal Service of Financial and Budgetary Oversight will supervise the spending of the funds.

The number of people living in emergency housing in Crimea composes 1240, while in Sevastopol their number is 638, the statement said.

Crimea and the city of Sevastopol became Russian regions, following the March referendum, which resulted in the overwhelming majority of people voting to secede from Ukraine and reunite with Russia.
