"Japan-Kamchatka charter flight programs resumed in 2011 and in the period up to 2014 27 such programs were implemented; in 2014, 9 charter flights were performed, in 2015 – 10 flights. Also this year, starting from the end of December and up until the middle of January a new charter program is planned to be launched," Marina Anischenko, Deputy Head of the Kamchatka Toursim and External Relations Agency, said on Thursday. Anischenko expressed hope that the planned charter flights would not be canceled and that Japanese tourists would be able to visit Kamchatka both in the winter and in the summer. The announcement comes amid a working visit of an official delegation from the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok to Kamchatka. In 2014, about 1,300 Japanese tourists visited the Kamchatka Territory, with half of them having traveled using the special charter flight program.
