Putin and Qatari emir discuss Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken with Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar on the phone at the Qatari side's initiative. The interlocutors conferred on Syria and the Doha meeting outcomes, the Kremlin press service said on April 19.

"Various aspects of the Syria situation were discussed, in particular, in the context of possible coordination of crisis settlement efforts," the report said.

"In addition, the leaders touched upon the results of the Doha meeting of representatives of petroleum producing countries held on April 17, 2016," the Kremlin said.

Much attention was given to the implementation of the agreements reached during the Qatari emir's visit to Russia in January 2016 and other issues of bilateral cooperation in various spheres.
