Russian Interior Minister to speak at UNCOPS summit

Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev will participate in the first United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit, which will be held in the United Nations Organization on June 3, an Interfax correspondent has reported.

The forum is organized by the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

According to the UN website, the police chiefs of the countries of the UN, its key partners and high-ranking UN officials will take part in the summit.

The purpose of the event is to come up with a plan to boost the effectiveness of the work of the police and find answers to the challenges faced by the police in the 21st century, the UN said on its website.

Kolokoltsev in his speech will focus on issues relating to the participation by the Russian police in UN peacekeeping missions and will put an emphasis on the need to unite efforts to counter organized crime, drug trafficking and terrorism, an Interfax correspondent has reported.
