The coastal populated areas of Crimea now have 3G mobile communications, the region's Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Polonsky said.

"We have 3G, from Kerch to the western coast of Crimea, in all places that are popular with tourists," Polonsky said in Alushta during the launch of a 3G standard network on the southern coast of Crimea.

Vladimir Zaitsev, general director of K-Telecom, the only mobile communications operator in Crimea, for his part, said fifty base mobile communication stations that form 3G coverage and eight base LTE stations have been placed on the southern coast of Crimea from the village of Foros to Alushta.

"K-Telecom in May 2015 put in place 3G mobile communications in Simferopol and Sevastopol. In June, a 3G network began working in Kerch and on the motorway connecting Kerch and Simferopol.

Zaitsev said the launch of third-generation mobile communications on the southern coast of Crimea has increased the amount of mobile Internet consumed in the Crimean Federal District from 35 to 54 terabytes a week.
