Russia’s David Airapetyan has made it into the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Championship now under way in Baku, Azerbaijan, by defeating  Łukasz Maszczyk of Poland 24:7, in the up to 49 kg category and winning his team’s first ticket to the 2012 London Olympics.

In Wednesday’s quarterfinals Airapetyan will be taking on Spain’s Jose de la Nieve, who  earlier disposed of Alex Ferramosca of Italy.

The final bouts are scheduled for Saturday. (RIAN)
