Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested a citizen of Tajikistan in Arkhangelsk on Wednesday for calling on people to join ISIL and commit terrorist attacks.

Some of the social media posts made by him had statements such as "When you meet a Russian, kill him."

"He published many materials on the Internet which aimed to incite people to commit violence against 'non-Muslims,' inciting terrorist attacks in Middle Eastern and former Soviet countries and joining international terrorist organizations such as the Islamic State, the Farouq Brigades and the Islamist Party of Turkestan," the FSB press service said.

The arrested man is a citizen of Tajikistan who had a permanent resident status in Russia and was planning to become a Russian citizen.

ISIL is alleged to have around several thousand fighters from the Russia. Several suspected ISIL members and agitators are arrested every month, primarily southern regions.
