US President Barack Obama has confirmed the death of Anwar al-Awlaki, the radical imam and Al-Qaeda warlord.

US and Yemeni media say that he was killed in the eastern mountain region of Yemen  in a drone strike that hit a car where the preacher was.

Al-Awlaki was first spotted by the FBI in 1999 when he allegedly provided bin Laden with satellite communications.

He was thought to lead the faction after terrorist # 1 had been killed.
