The Russian Defense Ministry has dismissed as nonsense a report in the German press that bombs with the inscription "To Berlin!" were attached to aircraft during a Russian Air Force exercise. "This is simply nonsense or a photo compilation or a wish to simply play with anti-Russian sentiments," a source at the ministry told Interfax on Aug. 12. "It is common knowledge that no writings are made on ammunition during either storage or even less during drilling events," the source said. Besides, "there have been no German journalists at a single recent Russian Air Force exercise," the source said. On Aug. 11 the German tabloid Bild published photos featuring bombs attached to Russian military aircraft with the WWII era-slogan "To Berlin!" Bild named the Flot.com portal as the source of the photos.
