Russians as yet cannot takes flights from Istanbul home, and diplomats of the consulate general consider accommodation and necessary assistance for them, Russian Consul General in Istanbul Andrei Podyelyshev told TASS on July 16. "The airport's work is not restored fully," he said. "As far as we know, Aeroflot's flights for today-tomorrow are cancelled. As for Turkish companies, we do not have verified information yet. The consulate's two diplomats are at the airport, where they try as they can to calm down the people and to connect them with aviation companies." "As yet, not a single flight has been made in either Russian direction," he said. "Of course, diplomats will provide necessary assistance and support to Russian citizens," he continued. "As for Aeroflot, all passengers who were to depart today and could not do so were offered accommodation and food. As for those who had tickets with Turkish air lines, we are not communicating the air companies to settle the issue." A group of insurgents staged a military attempt coup in Turkey on the night from July 15 to July 16. Bombs were dropped on the parliament building and the presidential palace in Ankara. According to latest reports, at least 160 people have been killed in clashes in Ankara and Istanbul, and 1,154 got injured.
