Armenia is ready to provide direct military assistance to Karabakh

Yerevan says it is ready to provide military assistance to Stepanakert in a situation of an escalation of the Karabakh conflict.

Armenian First Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan said in a statement made at a Sunday briefing with foreign military attaches accredited in the republic Armenia is ready for any development of events, "including direct military assistance to the security of the Nagorny Karabakh republic."

The Armenian Defense Ministry press service reported Tonoyan "presented the situation caused by the large-scale Azeri military aggression and the content of Armenia's actions to defend Nagorny Karabakh to curb and neutralize the enemy's offensive."

"The possible causes of the Azeri aggression and the expectations of this country from these actions were also discussed," the press service said.

The situation in the Karabakh conflict zone aggravated in the early hours of April 2. The parties in conflict are accusing each other of ceasefire breaches.
