The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishchenko have signed an agreement in New York on scrapping Ukraine’s weapons-grade plutonium.

The State Secretary said both countries stood to profit by the agreement. Ukraine is now due to take to Russia its plutonium, which could potentially be used for nuclear warheads.

The United States will reciprocate by building a laboratory in Ukraine that would specialize in using low-enriched uranium for medical purposes.
